Being a great mom for you means staying on top of your baby’ schedules, and supporting your spouse while making time for your own goals and priorities, then that’s perfectly fine too.
When you are home all day, it can feel isolating, and difficult to stay motivated.
But so many things need to get done. Here is what I do to keep myself on track for more than seven years of my parenting journey!
So without further due let’s dive into the productivity hacks for new moms with a newborn baby,
1. Plan Ahead (productivity hacks for new moms)
I like to start by writing a list of tasks I need to get done during the week. I know what it’s like to run a household with little ones to care for.
Even if you’ve always been good with managing your time, being a new mom can change all that.
Less time and more responsibilities can be overwhelming even for the most organized mom.
Like your planner, lists relieve your brain of remembering everything you need to do and organize them in one convenient place. You can make lists for:
- meal plan
- grocery shopping list
- errands or chores for the day
- household items you’re running low on
- activities you want to do with the kids
- goal-oriented lists
2. Be Flexible (productivity hacks for new moms)
Being flexible is about being open to possibilities while being content with the way things are. It’s about identifying what matters each day and letting go of whatever doesn’t have to get done. Figure out what you need to do to care for your family – and yourself. When you’re exhausted, it’s almost impossible to be the parent you want to be.
Take the night off from something: get takeout, leave the laundry, ignore that email, or take a social media break.
3. Wake up before the babies (productivity hacks for new moms)
Waking up early to get a jump start on my day always makes me feel accomplished.
The day starts with intention when you wake up on your terms and give yourself the time to ease into the day. You focus on what’s ahead with refreshed eyes and get your plan in place.
The day will feel more attainable and less chaotic.
This is my time to take care of work-related things like blogging etc.
I need to ensure I have a few hours to myself so that I can be present for her during the day. If you are more of a night owl, then stay up late.
4. Have a morning and night routine
I believe in the morning and nighttime routines. I shaped myself a lot as an individual by giving myself more meaningful days.
Morning and evening routines prime you for success. They help you achieve more, think clearly, and do work that matters. They keep you from stumbling through your day and make sure you get the most important things done.
Remember when we mentioned decision fatigue earlier? Another way to avoid that while still being productive is by having a morning and night routine.
Treat these routines as something you do practically on autopilot from the moment you get up and then again when you’re about to head to bed.
5. Ask for help
The best way to guide them is to simply tell them what you need.
It’s OK to ask for help. It doesn’t matter if you are a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, or any combination of the two.
Whether you have one baby or four ask for help. No matter if you have a partner to share the load with or not.
Everybody needs help, and it’s unrealistic to think we can do it all alone.
People naturally want to give advice and problem-solve, but let them know that they can help by just listening to you.
It’s important to ask for help when you need a break, and it’s important to say yes when help is offered. This does not make you a failure as a mother
6. Make time self-care
You’re a busy mom, but that doesn’t mean you can never rest. Schedule time to pamper yourself, even if it’s just to watch a few episodes of your favorite television show or to have a quiet night in with your spouse.
You need to rest if you want to be able to show up to your other responsibilities better. Take care of yourself, and you can take care of your priorities in ways you never expected.
Conclusion
The most important thing you need to remember to thrive as a stay-at-home mom is to focus on your priorities. There are lots of ways to get things done and parent at the same time.
For example, There’s power in dressing up for the day, even if all you plan to do is stay home.
When you show up and dress the way you want to feel, you feel more motivated and productive. It’s a simple habit to adopt, but it can create a powerful punch to your day.
It isn’t always easy which is why you need to be clever about how you go about your day.
And although your job as a Mom will never be done, you’ll be able to do many things that you didn’t get to do while on active duty.
Don’t let other people’s expectations inform the habits and goals you want for your life.
