I was not a morning person, but now I changed it and became a morning person.
A productive morning routine changed everything in my life, making me so effective and happy mom.
When I wake up early, the morning routine sets the tone for the day.
When I wake up when the kids wake up and immediately having all of their demands put on me before I even get a chance to breathe, I know when I have days like this, I tend to be short-tempered and more stressed.
My morning routine allows me to prioritize my self-care to be calmer and serve my family better.

I want to share why you should wake up before your kids, how to do it!
As I told you, I was not a morning person. I changed it little by little and will share exactly what I did to get my best habits for a productive mom morning routine.
Goals can often be broken down into daily habits and smaller tasks.
From personal goals to family goals, identify one that could be your motivation in the morning.
So even though early mornings are often challenging, I know getting up early helps me get more done in a less amount of time.
The next part to finding the best amount of time for you in the mornings is to start with 30 minutes a day.
Sometimes if you jump right in and bite off too much, you might become discouraged too quickly.
By adding morning time in increments, it will also encourage you to change your bedtime routine.
So you’ll have to move up your bedtime as well! This is easier with a slow transition.
After a week of consistent wins, increase the challenge a little bit just a little bit.
I read a blog post of lifehacks which explains why mornings are so great? Here are a few reasons:
- Peace. If you live with someone, especially young children, you may have difficulty finding a quiet place to do anything. Waking up before everyone else will give you the peace you need.
- Your time. It would be best if you had time to yourself. Waking up early is a great way to make that time happen. Many successful people spend the first hours alone to reflect, think, meditate, and grow.
- Your happiness. Morning people are generally happier than evening people. One study showed that morning people are less likely to be depressed than people who prefer evenings to do their work.

At first, sticking to a daily morning routine is tough.
So, you need to know why you’re doing it.
All of us have different priorities, and yes! We all have other family responsibilities.
So every mom has a different morning routine, but all of our morning routines need to make you happy without any stress and make you feel accomplished before you move on to conquer the rest of your day.
For me, daily, I spend one hour on my blog early in the morning. Because I can make most of my work during that quiet and no interactions.
I make out most of my deep work before kids wake up. When they wake up, I stop doing my deep work and do all the home chores such as cooking breakfast, morning clean up and getting ready with kids for the day.
I like to keep things simple because it gives me a sense of accomplishment.
To make a productive morning routine, you need to find your goals that are more effective and less overwhelming to achieve your goals lists!

Mornings are an essential part of your day, and they set the tone for everything that follows. So how can you maximize your mornings to ensure you get the most out of your day?
If you want to learn how to start a morning routine that lasts, here are five-morning routine tips to follow:
- Find your “why” –> when things get tough, you need to have a good reason to keep going.
- Start small and create slowly –> don’t aim for perfection. Aim for realistic and achievable.
- Commit to consistency –> nothing will work without consistency over a long time.
- The plan –> find ways to make it easier by removing distractions and setting up cues.
- Create balance –> design a good morning routine by including behaviors from all four areas of self-improvement: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.

1. Create a solid purpose for the day (find your why)
Creating a purpose for the day is the most important that you should have in your mind before you go to sleep.
An early bed is significant to set your best productive morning.
So definitely think you should set an intention for your day, and that intention makes you drive to wake up early in the morning.
Write your to-do list the night before; this gives you a picture of your day.
As I told you back (I work on my blog early in the morning), prioritize your task for deep and shallow work.
Start the day expecting that what you do will give you the best chance of getting off to a productive start.
2. Do not TAKE your phone as soon as you wake up.
If you have a plan the night before, stick to it and do not even open your phone and get sucked into it.
Whatever you do, do not start your mornings with your phone.
It’s so tempting to check your e-mail, jump on social media, or even play a mindless game.
3. A quick fresh up, prayer, and coffee

Soon after I wake up, I go for a quick fresh up and do my prayers.
Meditation, prayer, yoga, quiet time are all excellent practices that can get your day off to the right start.
After my prayers, I quickly do my morning skincare, which takes only 5 minutes.
I love to have my hot cup of coffee or at least a cup of hot water.
I like to sip and enjoy my coffee without being interrupted. It brings me so much joy!
This makes me slow down and enjoy. Afterward, I work on my blog during that no interruption time.
4. Workout
After I am done with some of my daily goals, I will jump right into some exercise.
Usually, I do some warmup and do cardio workouts for 30 minutes.
If I don’t get enough time for exercise, I replace it with my evening schedule when my kids play.
If you already have a regular exercise routine, try moving it to the beginning of the day.
Exercising before work can improve your mood and increase your productivity levels throughout the rest of the day.
5. Eat a healthy breakfast.
What healthy morning routine is complete without making time for breakfast?
After my morning deep work and exercise, I straightly go kitchen to make breakfast and lunch.
I usually do my lunch preparation along with breakfast, yaa spending less time in the kitchen!
Our breakfast is Indian, basically Kerala cuisine puttu, appam, etc.
6. A quick clean up
After the breakfast is made with my kids and husband, I do a quick clean-up and washing dishes.
This helps me to reduce my daily cleaning routine. Usually, I wipe down the countertop.
7. Get ready for the day.
This tip is for my stay-at-home moms or work-at-home moms mostly.
Just because you are going to be home does not mean staying in your pajamas all day.
Get dressed, fix your hair and throw on some makeup if you wear it.
I don’t put on makeup, but I make sure to do my morning skincare along with my neatly combed hair! That’s it. I’m good to go! You can do whatever you feel good and comfortable with.
It made a difference in my attitude and made me so happy.
8. Prep the night before
I can not stress this tip enough.
The biggest morning habit of productive moms is prepping the night before.
Prep as much as you can!
I don’t do any decluttering, vacuuming or dusting in the morning. I don’t want to spoil my good chunk of morning productive time!
Suppose you have kids in school, prep their lunches. Make sure their backpacks are ready to go by the front door—layout, your kids, clothes the night before.
A bit of extra planning the night before can go a long way to minimizing morning stress.
Make your meals ahead of time too.
If you stay at home, work, or work from home, make your day easier by having everything ready for you.
Stay a day ahead and prep everything you can so you are not rushing the next day.
9. Keep it simple in the mornings.
Morning routines are great for productivity.
Once you create a good morning routine, your morning will eventually run like clockwork.
Try to get up at the same time every morning, workout, make your bed, get your kids ready.
All of these things are productive, but in your kids’ minds, you told them you’d be right there, and you are taking too long! They then start to whine, and your morning because even more frustrating.
Tackle all these items either before the kids wake up or the night before during your night routine.
Maybe it might be cleaning tasks you include in your morning routine.
Whatever your morning routine looks like, keep it the same to make it a habit.
Eventually, you won’t even have to think about what comes. Next, you’ll naturally do it, which will boost your productivity.
Extra tips for working outside moms
- Pick and layout your kids’ clothes the night before
- Pack your gym bag and anything else you need for work the night before
- Load the car with everything you can before your kids wake up
- Get ready with the lunch box ideas night before
- Do all the chores night before for a stressless morning
- Get up before your kids
- Eat breakfast early
- Get completely dressed before your kids wake up

This is why I recommend you wake up before your kids.
You can use this time to journal, work out or spend a little more time getting yourself ready for the day.
Use this uninterrupted time for you. Although the perfect morning probably won’t ever happen, you can start working towards it if you know what you desire.
Take care of yourself invest the time. When you feel good about yourself, getting enough rest, and doing something for yourself, it shows!
