Over the past years, I have struggled with keeping a clean kitchen by avoiding huge mess after every cooking.
Whenever you make super whole home-cooked meals, you’ll end up with a huge cleaning process.
To get rid of these tedious daily routines, minimize your cleaning time, try some tips and tricks to avoid mess while cooking in the kitchen.

1. Keep the things minimal

Whenever we set up our kitchen, we Always make the biggest mistake: to line up our kitchen counters with lots of kitchen appliances from one end to another.
Too much stuff on your counter makes everything so congested, choric and there is a tiny place to work on your counter.
You may think that this may be a very time managing process and may be handy to work with all your appliances.
But after all, removing everything for a proper clean up is a struggle.
The critical point here is to show you how it’s so much better to keep those appliances away in the cabinets or cupboards that keeps your counter clean.
It might sound so much challenging, but you will thank me afterward once you create a habit.
Now you will have a lot of free space for your easy meal prep and cooking. After all, the clean up will be so easy for you without any obstacles.
2. Begin with a clean kitchen
The most important tip I would recommend; first, Your countertop should be empty before you begin cooking.

There should be an empty place to place all the cooking items, which makes cooking easy.
3. Plan and prepare before you start

Plan all your recipes for the day and decide which ingredients are in common.
Chop and measure everything simultaneously to limit the number of times you have to wash your cutting board and other tools.
4. Get ready your sink with soapy water
Put a stopper for your sink and fill it with normal water or hot water to soak the dishes.
If you need to reuse it immediately, you can wash up easily.
It’s so much easier to wipe away the sink the right way you wash dishes instead of doing it later.
5. Take the right tools
Try to pick the equipment which has all the purpose use. So that you can use it again and again after a rinse.
Your cutting board is an excellent multipurpose thing.
With a large cutting board, you can chop different ingredients into different parts.
Thus you may have only one thing to wash and no more dishes.
6. Set a mini garbage bowl or bucket on your countertop
Set up a bowl for garbages right beside your cutting board.
A countertop bin helps you to avoid frequent walking for dumping waste into the waste bin. You may also have a clean countertop without any mess.
By adopting this method, you don’t have to wipe down the countertop now and then.
You can dump and wipe down all the scraps once you are all done.
7. Measure and transfer over the sink

Whenever you think you might make a mess while moving or measuring any food items, do it over the sink.
If anything spills out, you can rinse out the sink.
I always try to rinse out the sink. It would be best if you also were doing the same.
Clean up the big chunks of food before the water starts backing up, finally wipe the sink down if it starts looking too dirty.
8. Separate less greasy items
Some items only need a swipe or a quick water rinse. Never dump the grease down the drain. It also helps to prevent the fatbergs from the sink.

Whenever you see any spills while cooking or cutting, try to clean it up right away.
This may help your cleaning routine more manageable.

If you let it stay, it can harden and will be even more challenging to wash off.

- Transfer leftovers to airtight containers and store them in the refrigerator or freezer
- Wash, dry, and put away all the dishes
- Run the dishwasher when it’s full
- Clean spills, crumbs, and messes from the stove, floors, table, and counters
- Wash out the sink
Keep schedules for cleaning at the top of your game
If you slow down a bit and make time for some cleaning along the way, it will make cleanup go faster after the meal, and your cooking process will be more enjoyable.
Keeping a mess-free kitchen is essential to maintaining a clean kitchen.
It takes some time and effort, but I can promise the return is so worth it! Coming back to a clean home is fantastic and cooking in a clean kitchen is more relaxing.
Waking up to a clean kitchen lift your mood and help your days be less stressful and overwhelming.
