I don’t believe that everyone got that routine while growing up.
Some have no idea what they are going to do when they wake up each morning because they have not thought about creating a schedule to stick.
As a result, many people feel like they are stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, and falling short of their goals and true potential.
Each of us is different and has different goals, needs, desires, and resources.

Routines are similar to habits. It’s what we do unconsciously, without even thinking about them.

The more your routine feels like a habit, the less effort you’ll need to exert to make it happen, and the more productive you’ll be overall.Â
That is why it is important to develop our routine after carefully deciding what we want to achieve in our lives.
Decide what needs to be in your routine
You have to be more realistic in your planning. Rather than the stuff in so many tasks for a day and not finishing them.Â
Think about your current routine and what you do daily. Is there anything that you could spend less time doing or remove completely?
Maybe you want to stop snoozing your alarm or spend less time watching Netflix.Â
Your list will range greatly, from work and kids activities to social events and household chores.
Get detailed and try to think of all the things that require your time. To trigger your thoughts, try brainstorming tasks by area of life:
- Family
- Household
- Work/School
- HealthÂ
- Self Care ( All basic self-care)
- Social Life
- Hobbies
Now go for a challenging yet achievable schedule and complete your tasks accordingly.
You should pick and choose which elements of the routines that you come across that are valuable to you, depending on what you want from your life.

Schedules are associated with specific times. You schedule a meeting or an appointment for a certain time.
Then you schedule a time to run specific errands, grab lunch with a friend, or any other events.Â
you can create schedules for your afternoons and evenings. They may differ as per your lifestyle.
A homemaker will have a different schedule than a college student whose schedule may differ from a corporate employer.
My schedule look like this:
MORNING (7 a.m. to 10 a.m.)
Make the bed

MIDDAY (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Cook lunch
AFTERNOON (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)

1. Set small goals
Break each large goal into smaller goals.
While a big goal is exciting to tackle, it is what often leads to failure as we take on too much.
If your overall goal is to eat healthier meals, start by changing one thing a day, every day, to build confidence.
When you accomplish that, congratulate yourself!Â
2. Be consistent with time.Â
If you want to get a daily walk-in, attempt it at the same time every day.
Completing your tasks first thing in the morning before losing motivation allows you to enjoy benefits all day.
If you want to get to the gym, do it on your way to or from work, and you will have more success.
Most people won’t want to leave the warm house once they get home.
3. Be preparedÂ
When deciding upon a new routine, make sure you have all the pieces before you start; this will make it easier to get started without any delay.
 For example, if a new resolution is to clean the house every Saturday morning, make sure your vacuum cleaner is working properly and you have all the cleaning materials needed.
Having everything plotted on the calendar will give you the peace of mind of knowing you have set aside time for everything you need to do.
4. Create realistic routines for the lifeÂ
It’s important to create realistic routines for the life you have now.
If you have young children like me, factor their needs into the equation as well.
You may have kids who you have to pick up from school or help with homework, consider those needs as well as create your routines.
Maintain some flexibility while working towards consistency because life can throw those curveballs.
5. Stay flexible
Try out your schedule for a week or two and adjust it as needed.
It might take a few weeks for you to establish a routine that meets your needs, both personal and professional, so be patient.
 Sometimes we start with a certain approach but realize it’s not working.Â
Being flexible allows you to adjust to changes quickly, a trait that can help you succeed both in your personal and professional life.Â
 Remember to allow for some flexibility every day since unexpected tasks will occur.
6. Repeat until you can follow the schedule.Â
Try following your schedule again after making changes.
Creating a plan does no good if you don’t use it, so find a time to consult your calendar regularly so you can stay on track.
 If you are having trouble doing so, continue to make adjustments and keep trying.
If your month is off to a less-than-productive start, it’s never too late to turn things around!
