Well, the best morning routine for moms who work gives us a smooth morning. If we can find time to exercise, prioritize self-care rituals, and get through our mom’s to-do list then we’re on the right track!
For me waking up early still isn’t completely natural for me, but more often than not I am now an early riser.
I’ve seen the results and I know they will continue to get even better as I keep making the conscious effort to wake up early and I have changed the habit of waking up early!
Benefits of having a morning routine
The morning routine helps us set the tone for the day, better allowing us to control our schedules rather than our schedule controlling us.
As we start each day fresh, we can better focus on what is in front of us, where to prioritize our time, and, ultimately, increase our productivity and feel more in control of our schedule.
The ideal Mom Morning Routine
- Exercise – Exercise strengthens your heart and improves your circulation. The increased blood flow raises the oxygen levels in your body. They are truly great for our mental health and happiness, plus a strong, healthy body is just so worth it
- Chores from to-do list – to keep our home running and get everyone out the door on time, with everything they need.
- Goal tasks – tasks to get us closer to our goals. Incorporate a few goal tasks and activities to ensure we’re making progress in our life toward where we want to be.
How you can plan your morning routine as a busy mom
How do working moms plan a day? With a simple morning routine. A working mom’s morning routine is the secret weapon to great days as a busy working mom.
A solid working mom morning routine is the fastest and easiest way for working moms to plan their days and get all the things done.
A morning routine gives us a clear and effective plan of attack and a clear path to follow.
It will give us a head-start on our morning and will make our day easier and happier.
How to stick with the routine
Start small and stick to a new routine. Another key to sticking to our morning routine is to make sure we’re starting small with our new routine and new habits.
One month days is said to be the time it takes to create a new habit but I think the time can vary.
A Simple Morning Routine For Busy Moms
1. Your morning routine starts the night before
Be sure to have them pack their bags. Make and pack their lunch and snacks the night before, if at all possible.
Choose your outfit! This will keep you from scrambling in the morning when you discover the suit you wanted to wear is at the dry cleaners.
Write out the next day’s To Do list. This gives you a starting point and creates the structure for your day. It also frees your mind from having to remember responsibilities.
When my to do list gets long, I write my most important tasks in my diary with colored pens. With the completion of each task, I cut out the corresponding list of tasks, which motivates me to keep going.
2. Wake up at the same time every morning
Set your alarm to go off at the same time every morning. This creates a routine for your body and consistently waking up at the same time allows your body to have a healthy sleeping schedule and daily routine.
Routine is very beneficial for our minds, which affects the rest of what we do.
Starting your day consistently, day in and day out every morning will create this routine which will create balance for your mind and a schedule of when to wake up for your body.
If you are always feeling rushed and stressed in the morning you need to give yourself more time. How much?
Try waking up just 10 minutes earlier and see if that is enough, if not add another 10 until you find your sweet spot.
3. Drink water first
Grabbing a cup of coffee or tea first thing in the morning may seem like the best move, but health experts say water is the correct choice.
After going several hours without a sip, a serving of water first thing can hydrate the body while aiding digestion and metabolism.
A cup of water first thing in the morning is an easy win for your physical well-being.
It’s amazing how one small action for your physical health can set you up for success when you have even bigger fitness goals.
I usually drink warm cumin water which has a variety of benefits ranging from helping improve your digestion to boosting your memory.
4. Eat easy breakfast all week
One simple way to streamline breakfast is to eat the same thing all week. This way you aren’t acting as a short-order cook and you don’t have a huge mess in the kitchen when you leave for work.
Another trick you can do is bulk cooking and freezer breakfast meals.
Eating a healthy, protein-filled breakfast is the best bet to start your day off great and purposeful.
It is the most important meal of the day, this causes a ripple effect on what you want to eat for the meals coming up.
If I don’t eat breakfast in the morning, I notice I want to pig out at lunch because I am so hungry come noon.
5. Try Not to use your phone during productive mornings
Depending on your level of social media addiction this will be easier for some than others. No matter what, it will help to cut out wasted time from your morning routine.
Whether you are mindlessly scrolling through your feed or taking a quick minute to check your email, it’s sabotaging your goal of having a productive and calm morning.
Instead, get yourself ready and then schedule 10 minutes to check email, texts, and social media before you wake up the kids.
5. Keep it simple
Try to make a morning routine that isn’t too complex or intense. Keep it as simple as possible for you and your family.
It will make your mornings a little less frantic and increase the chances that you’ll stick to your morning routine.
Moms like us are always stressed and overwhelmed, but we can be better moms by stressing less and feeling calm and happier as a mom.
Final thoughts
Practice and refinement over time here is the best way to get the best morning routine as a busy working mom.
While I’m not perfectly executing it every day it is helping me produce results and feel more in control of my life.
If my kids are not well I might skip my cardio workout, sometimes I would go for a walk but the main intent of my routine is captured.
The key here is to be consistent with your routine as a mom.
You have to understand that to create a new habit in your life you have to make a decision, you have to take action and you have to be consistent with it.
It’s just like creating a sleeping habit for you and your kids, you can’t give up!
Also, remember our morning routine serves us. It helps us to get more organized and feel more in control of our day.
