How do working moms keep a house clean? In this blog post I will get you through working mom cleaning who works full-time.
If you are busy working like me, then you will find this helpful. As a working mom, myself, I’ve created a simple, and realistic cleaning schedule for busy working moms.
It’s a struggle for many busy moms to maintain the clean home they want along with other daily responsibilities.
Because you don’t have time to spend hours a day cleaning to keep your home clean and orderly. A good cleaning schedule for the home gives you the results you want with less time and energy invested.
How to keep your house clean when you’re a busy working mom
1. Set your expectations and priorities (working mom cleaning tips)
Consider what is most important to you, what areas you can compromise on, and what expectations you just need to let go of.
If your cleaning schedule feels overwhelming, then start a bit smaller. Just work on the morning and evening chores. Then add in the daily 15 minutes of laundry. And once you’ve got those down, add in the daily chore.
2. A must everyday cleaning
Determining how often to clean a house depends on size, how often rooms are used, and the types of furniture and surfaces you have.
Some things need to be cleaned every day, while a general clean can be done once a week, and deep cleaning every few months or annually.
Cleaning eliminates germs along with dirt and dust, resulting in better indoor air quality, leaving a whiff of freshness in its wake.
The kitchen and bathroom usually require special attention, as they are known to be one of the dirtiest places in any house.
3. Be smarter with your time
Managing your time isn’t about squeezing as many tasks into your day as possible. It’s about simplifying how you work, doing things faster, and relieving stress.
You can also work smarter by batching similar tasks together.
If you want to follow a cleaning schedule & feel accomplished, you’re going to have to adjust other areas of your life so that you have time to clean. Fit in a 45 minute cleaning session in which you’ll do
- 15 minutes of laundry (or less)
- Your daily cleaning
- Cooking every day takes up so much time
- Meal prep for the week whenever possible
4. Be consistent
More like showing up every day and doing something. Some days will be “all done” and some will be 1/4 get done, you get the idea. But the overall effect will be undeniably positive, on your home and your frame of mind.
The more consistently you do something, the easier it becomes, and the more momentum you build up. Eventually, what was once a struggle becomes a habit, and habits are hard to break.
That’s why consistency is so important, some tasks are even more frequent than daily household chores.
Decide which tasks fall under this category in your home and discuss expectations surrounding them.
5. Give Your Kids Chores
Doing chores helps children learn about what they need to do to care for themselves, their home, and their family. They learn skills they can use in their adult lives, like preparing meals, cleaning, organising, and keeping a garden.
Chores help kids learn responsibility and self-reliance. Assigning children regular chores helps teach them responsibility. When you get them in the habit of helping around the house, they keep doing it as they get older.
